CLIMB Logo

Cultivating Learning In Middle School & Behind (CLIMB) is the BCFES's pre-college pipeline that provides a clear pathway for youth in foster care from secondary education systems to post-secondary institutions (UTSA, TAMUSA, & Alamo Colleges District) through a specialized college-readiness and socio-emotional curriculum, using an e-learning and virtual engagement platform.

CLIMB participants are connected to our campus support programs in addition to other pre-college programs such as dual-credit, TRiO, and STEM to maximize college-readiness and exposure to various academic disciplines and careers. This particular approach, along with the connection to resources and accurate information, is needed to improve the disparaging educational outcomes of youth with a history of foster care.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide college exploration through the tailored curriculum and experiential learning so that students develop the confidence and tools needed to view college as an accessible and attainable option-- at the school that is the best for them.

Using a specialized approach that blends synchronous and asynchronous e-learning, along with the connection to resources and accurate information, will improve the disparaging educational outcomes and equip youth with a history of foster care with the tools to be successful in college and beyond.

Within nine months of participation, youth will have received a mastery level of life domain curriculum specific to their age and grade-level.
